Hurricane Information

Well...we are now in the thick of the most active part of the hurricane season.  Over the next few weeks you will most likely grow tired of my "harping"...but here goes…

 

I ask all recipients of this email to do the following...make ABSOLUTELY SURE that you have an evacuation plan and destination.  Remember; ignoring a mandatory evacuation order is NOT AN OPTION for you.  Make your plans and stick to them.  None of us own any one "thing" worth losing our lives over.

 

Next...does your church have your cell phone number and email address?  In the event of an evacuation, St. John's will make every effort to contact you with updates, information, etc. that proved invaluable to all of us last year.  We will evacuate far enough away to ensure that we have power to operate computers and phone trees.  If you aren't sure whether or not we have your cell phone number then please email Sandi.  Also, if you know your evacuation destination please let us have the address.

 

For residents of La Porte...are you connected to the city's "Connect CTY" system?  In the event of an evacuation the city will send you a text, an email, and a phone message to the numbers, etc. that you indicate.  Again, invaluable information last year.  If you are not connected then follow this link and follow the instructions:

Residents of Shoreacres:  Last year the city operated its website from a distant location with power.  The website posted invaluable information about our homes, return info, etc.  Make sure you have their web address:

And yes, you will hear me say this over and over again...but just remember...not one member of our church lost their life as the result of making the very bad decision to stay...let's keep it that way OK???
